On Calling Poison Control

I'm ashamed to admit it, but last night I had to call poison control. My daughter is only five months old. She can't crawl, and I had to call poison control. How horrible am I? Adam and I were playing around on the computer. Kenly was happy as a lark playing on her Baby Einstein mat. She is rolling over quiet a bit these days, but only in one direction. She scoots on her back by arching her back as well, but she can't get very far very fast or so we thought. We turned our backs for maybe three minutes and when we turned around, Kenly had rolled/scooted three feet. She reached up grabbed a branch of my Schefflera plant and was gumming a huge leaf. I called poison control and they said that it was okay. If she had teeth, the issue would have been worse. She could have had mouth irritation, lip swelling, trouble swallowing, and diarrhea. We got off easy. We had to wipe her mouth out with a rag and give her some juice. She refused the juice, so we got some water in her by letting her suck on an ice cube safely contained in a teething device.

Even today, I turned my back for just one second, and Kenly scooted two feet. When I turned around, she was gumming/chewing on the edge of my hope chest. Can you tell that she is teething?

I think we're going to have a child who will keep me on my toes every second she is awake. Please don't call social services....I really am a good mom.

Surprisingly, I have never had to call poison control. But I have plenty of friends who have. One kid ate a Christmas ornament, another ate dish detergent, etc. Kids eat it all!
