Pretending with Play-doh
I love to watch Kenly pretend with Play-doh. She uses her molds, but she also creates delicious meals out of blobs/balls of the squishy stuff. She asks me or her Daddy to make her things. I love watching her mold her imagination when she's creating these masterpieces.

And because the light was good during our Play-doh session, I couldn't resist a few of these shots.

Library Love
Kenly loves to visit the library. We have three libraries that we frequent. We refer to them as the big, medium, or small library. Hendersonville's main branch is fantastic for story time and for the vast selection of books that we have to chose from. The medium library is the Fletcher branch. Kenly loves this library for the puzzles and for Kate's park which is right outside the library doors. Finally, the small library is in Mills River. This library is the size of our living room, but it's quaint and she gets lots of individualized attention. She also loves to get a cup of water from the water tower that is hidden in the corner. Regardless of which library we visit, Kenly has a marvelous time. She does puzzles, she pulls books from the shelves with wild abandon, and she types on the computer "looking" for just the right book to take home. Our book bag is always bulging at the seams when we leave.
This is our friend Ava sharing a snack at the library. I love that Ava calls Kenly and me by saying "Kenly-Rhonda."
The Fletcher Library has a large book bin filled with board books. Kenly always finds a few to take home even though she's branching out into "big girl" books with real paper pages.
She's recently discovered that she can pull at chair up to the easy reader shelves and help herself to any book she wants.
We always have to preview the book to make sure that its not too long or difficult. If it were up to Kenly, we'd be bringing chapter books home.
She feels so grown up when she selects a book from the shelf that makes its way into the bag that goes home with us.
I can hear her saying, "Can we take this one home, Mama?"
I'm so thankful that we have so many quality libraries in our area. We never have a bad day at the library(Well, maybe the day she had an accident on the reading rug, but who's counting.).

Hahn's Gymnastics
When we find ourselves facing a blustery, cold day, Kenly and I often frequent Hahn's Gym. Well, if we are lucky enough for the bitter day to fall on a Monday or Friday. The gym offers free play for toddlers from 9:30-11:30. It only costs $5.00 to play for an hour, so we find it to be a splendid bargain. Exploring the gymnastics equipment is a great way for Kenly to burn off some energy on days that playing outside is challenging.
She loves bouncing on the trampoline.

Rolling or kicking the big balls on the springy floor is hours of entertainment.
Or perhaps collecting as many of the smaller balls as she possibly can.
These photos might not be able to capture the motion of jumping, but the position of her pig tails certainly does.

The gym has a tumbling run that ends in a huge foam pit. Kenly has not jumped from the run into the pit, but she loves sliding into the blocks or jumping off the side of the pit.
Where is Kenly?
She's saying, "Help me, Mama. Help me." I've been in this foam pit once or twice and I can honestly say that I struggle to get out. At one point I thought I was going to have to request a crane.
Our friends Meghan and Ava.

Balancing on balls is a fun pastime as well.
The springy floor is a safe place to practice somersaults. I guess I should call it a forward roll since I've now been properly educated.

Kenly soon discovered that she could roll over using the big ball.

Since the floor is springy and cushioned, I don't fear for that precious head of hers.
Kenly and Ava taking a rest. What could they be talking about?
Kenly also takes time to lift a few weights. After all, she has to keep up her toddler physique.

We love exploring Hahn's on days where we'd otherwise be stuck inside looking for ways to expend the loads of energy that Kenly produces every day.
